Finding the right level of risk

Every KiwiSaver fund holds a different mix of investments. The right one depends on your timeframe and how you'd feel watching your balance rise and fall along the way.

  • Conservative

Mostly cash and bonds. The value usually moves less, so it can suit money you'll need soon.

  • Balanced

A mix of income and growth assets, aiming for a middle path between stability and growth.

  • Growth

Mostly shares and property. Expect bigger ups and downs along the way, so it's designed for longer timeframes.

Growth assets such as shares Income assets such as cash and bondsIllustrative only. Every fund's actual mix is set out in its disclosure documents.

What we'll look at together

Your options
KiwiSaver providers offer a range of funds with different investment mixes and fees. We explain how your current fund works and how it compares with the alternatives.
Your goals and timeframe
Saving for a first home in a few years is very different from retiring in thirty. Your fund should match when you'll need the money and what it's for.
Your circumstances
We take into account your income, savings, debts and how comfortable you are with ups and downs, then recommend a fund that fits.
Managed funds
Beyond KiwiSaver, we can advise on managed funds if you want to invest for other goals and need access to your money before retirement.
For employers
Employers can offer a workplace KiwiSaver scheme to staff. Find out more about group schemes.

Nobody can promise what markets will do. Our advice isn't about chasing returns. It's about a fund you can stick with through the ups and downs.

The value of investments can go down as well as up, and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future returns. Any recommendation comes with the relevant product disclosure documents.
